ABOUT
Glen B. Wheatley
Founder and
Managing Director
Over 30 years of international business experience have left their mark on Glen, making him a creative and communicative problem solver, who runs the boutique strategy advisory firm Best Solutions International.
His career has taken him on project and long-term assignments to Europe, Australasia, and the Americas. This includes seven years in Greater China in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
His industry experience ranges from specialty services, distribution, tourism, and media to gourmet food & wine, architectural products, security systems, furniture, biofuels, industrial equipment and chemicals.
Glen has been fortunate to work with and for all sizes of organisations - from sole traders to some of the largest global companies.
Glen’s first formal business venture took him to Germany where he co-founded subscription-based computer matching service for used cars in 1986. It was then that he realised that his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in German at the University of Michigan wasn’t enough and he went back to university to earn an International Master of Business Administration degree in 1988 at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, USA.
This was followed by a stint in the corporate world, where Glen was with the German chemicals conglomerate, BASF AG, for ten years. Most of his assignments there involved investment and market feasibility studies as well as major marketing and sales expansion campaigns. While with BASF, Glen worked in Germany, Mexico, Hong Kong and Mainland China and was responsible for Latin American, European and Asian markets.
From 1998 to 2000, Glen was the General Manager of Beijing Fortune Draeger Safety Equipment, a Sino-German joint venture. Glen’s leadership was instrumental in the start-up of export production of high-tech oxygen sensors as well as taking a top position in the China market for gas detection equipment for industrial and mining applications.
Glen returned to his entrepreneurial roots and founded Best Solutions International (BSI) in 2000 with the goal of increasing the success of organisations by helping to connect the dots between people, strategy, and systems.
BSI sees itself as a co-investor (including as angel investor) in the ongoing success of its clients, taking an active role in shaping their future to maximise their market potential. The process usually begins with a Business Health Review and continues with tailored support to navigate the optimisation process.
This support is grounded in clarity of information and communication to increase profitability and peace of mind for business stakeholders. Glen’s passion for observing, questioning, synthesizing and communicating information is at the heart of the optimisation process with BSI clients and angel investments.
